Control of Quantum Systems @Erlangen
We are a newly established research group in Quantum Theory at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) Erlangen-Nürnberg, led by Prof. Daniel Burgarth. We are interested in quantum control, open quantum systems and mathematical structures with applications in quantum technology. We are building a friendly and diverse group driven by open-ended curiosity and passion. We are particularly looking for applicants with good pencil and paper skills for analytical calculations.
News
15 Apr 2024 Felix Fischer joins the team as a Master's student. Welcome!
4 Apr 2024 Congratulations to our Master's student Marco Wiedmann for winning a prestigious Munich Quantum Valley doctoral fellowship! Marco will start his Ph.D. with us in December with a project centered on symmetries and speed limits in quantum control.
14 Mar 2024 Jonathan Bör joins the team as a Bachelor student. Welcome!
29 Feb 2024 New paper on the arXiv: a way of obtaining a central charge in quantum optics. Interestingly, the product of two evolutions under a single mode quadratic Hamiltonians is not always generated by a quadratic Hamiltonian.
6 Feb 2024 Two new papers on the arXiv: a generalization of the Kolmogorov extension theorem and its relevance in quantum mechanics (which, in a way, does have trajectories after all!), and on some sufficient conditions to achieve global approximate controllability of quantum systems defined by a form perturbation of some drift Hamiltonian (e.g., a particle in a box with a Dirac delta potential).
