Control of Quantum Systems @Erlangen
We are a newly established research group in Quantum Theory at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) Erlangen-Nürnberg, led by Prof. Daniel Burgarth. We are interested in quantum control, open quantum systems and mathematical structures with applications in quantum technology. We are building a friendly and diverse group driven by open-ended curiosity and passion. We are particularly looking for applicants with good pencil and paper skills for analytical calculations.
[ConQuEr24]
The workshop "Control of Quantum Systems @Erlangen" [ConQuEr24] was held in Erlangen on December 11–13. It included talks by 13 invited speakers from all around the world, and a poster session. See the workshop website for all information. Thanks to all participants!
News
23 Dec 2024 New ConQuEr paper under the Christmas tree: we find sufficient conditions under which finite-dimensional truncations of an unbounded quantum Hamiltonian reproduce the correct solution in the infinite-dimensional limit. This does not happen in general—some neat examples are discussed.
1 Dec 2024 Marco Wiedmann comes back to the team—now as a PhD student with a Munich Quantum Valley fellowship. Welcome again!
9 Nov 2024 Elisabeth Meusert joins the team as a Master's student. Welcome!
25 Oct 2024 Another fully ConQuEr-authored paper on the arXiv: we provide quantitative bounds for the validity of the rotating-wave approximation in Dicke models. Our bounds are intrinsically state-dependent and, in particular, are significantly different for entangled and non-entangled states
22 Oct 2024 Emil Kraft joins the team as a Bachelor student. Welcome!
